Financial planning · Mumbai · since 2012

Retirement may last 40+ years. We help you plan for every one of them.

GYR is a SEBI-registered financial planning firm. We help families and senior professionals turn a lifetime of savings into a dependable plan for income — and we stay beside them through every market that follows.

About a dozen members of the GYR team stand together in the office after a journaling session, smiling and holding open notebooks. Posters of the firm’s vision, mission and values hang on the wall.

Who we work with

People for whom the next decision matters most.

  • Families in their 40s and 50s

Retirement is ten to twenty years away: the right time to plan it properly, alongside children’s education and the home, and to build an income that will keep pace with rising costs.

  • Senior executives and professionals

Corporate leaders, and doctors, chartered accountants and consultants who run their own practice. ESOPs, property, parents to support and very little time: we do the thinking and the paperwork with you; the decisions stay yours.

  • Indian families living abroad

NRIs planning a return to India, or supporting parents here, with money and tax rules in two countries to keep in step.

What you can expect

A plan built around you.

  • Define your saving targets

    Clear goals, sized and dated.

  • Achieve financial independence

One plan across everything you own.

  • Build a balanced portfolio

An asset mix for your goals, not a product shelf.

  • Be transparent on how we are paid

Agreed upfront, in plain terms, before you decide.

What really matters

What really matters

“The only benchmark that you should care about is one that indicates whether or not you’re on track to accomplish your financial goals.”

From Adaptive Asset Allocation by Adam Butler, Michael Philbrick & Rodrigo Gordillo

Comparing your portfolio with an index tells you very little about whether your family will be all right.

So we measure risk differently: as the chance that you won’t reach a goal that matters to you. Our work is to reduce that chance.

We design portfolios to fund the goals in your plan — not to beat everybody else’s portfolio.

Read about our approach

How we behave

Four words we hold ourselves to.

Our clients know it as GPRS. It describes what working with us should feel like, year after year.

Goal-focused
Every recommendation is tied to something you want to do with your life, not to a market index.
Proactive
We raise what needs attention — a tax change, a maturing policy, a drifting allocation — before you have to ask.
Responsive
When markets fall or life changes, you reach a person who knows your plan.
Simple
Fewer products, explained in plain language. We would rather you understand your plan than be impressed by it.

What drives results

A, B, C. The basics that do the heavy lifting.

In our experience, over the long run these three matter far more to how a family’s money grows than picking individual stocks or funds.

Asset allocation
How your money is divided between equity, debt and gold, set for each goal and how far away it is. It shapes most of the journey, far more than which fund or stock you pick.
Behaviour
Staying with the plan when markets are noisy. Avoiding panic in a fall and greed in a rally is usually worth more than any clever trade.
Compounding
Giving money time to grow. Starting early, investing regularly and not interrupting the process let returns earn returns.
How ABC shapes your plan

How it works

A conversation first. Then five steps.

It usually starts with the Financial Health Checkup (opens in a new tab). Based on your answers, we get in touch for an introductory conversation to understand what you need and whether we are the right fit. There is no charge for it, and no advice is given until we have agreed to work together.

  1. 1

    Onboarding

We sign an agreement that sets out our fees and any conflicts of interest, complete your KYC, and assess your risk profile.

  2. 2

    Discovery

We learn about your family, income, expenses, assets, liabilities and the goals that matter — retirement first among them.

  3. 3

    Planning

You receive a written plan: how much your goals need, where the money will come from, and how it should be invested.

  4. 4

    Execution

Our execution desk helps you put the plan in place through registered platforms, in your own name and on your instructions.

  5. 5

    Review

We meet regularly and whenever life or markets change. Our engagements are long-term; this is where we add the most value.

Our story

Started in a 2.5 BHK. Grown one introduction at a time.

We began in 2012, working out of our home in Mumbai, when about thirty friends kindly agreed to give us a chance. Our first office was a garage.

We shared personal finance know-how openly, met families who valued it, and they chose to work with us. Since then, almost every family we serve has come through an introduction from another.

We see our role as that of a custodian: taking care that what goes into your portfolio suits you, and being there to hold your hand when markets turn rough.

How we work with you

Two services, kept separate.

GYR Financial Planners Private Limited is registered with SEBI as a Non-Individual Investment Adviser and with AMFI as a mutual fund distributor. As SEBI requires, the two are segregated at the client level.

SEBI RIA · INA000015996

Investment advisory

Financial planning and investment advice for a fee, set out in a signed agreement before any advice is given. The agreement discloses any conflicts of interest, and our advice follows your documented risk profile.

AMFI · ARN-96717

Mutual fund distribution

Help with investing in mutual funds, for which we are paid commission by the fund houses. The commission paid to us is shown in your Consolidated Account Statement.

  • One service per client

A client receives either advisory or distribution services from us, not both, and we confirm which before we begin.

  • Your money stays in your name

We do not hold client funds, and we do not ask for the passwords to your trading, demat or bank accounts.

Your journey with us

Most families reach us through a friend. You can also start here.

Referrals remain our preferred way to begin, so we keep a limited number of places open for requests that reach us another way. The Financial Health Checkup takes a few minutes and will tell you something useful about where you stand — whether or not we go further together.

Words we work by

“The difference between success and failure is not which stock you buy or which piece of real estate you buy, it is asset allocation.”
Tony Robbins
“A good summary of investing history is that stocks pay a fortune in the long run but seek punitive damages when you try to be paid sooner.”
Morgan Housel
